Why convert PNG to JPG

PNG is excellent for screenshots, graphics, and images with sharp edges. JPG is often better for photos and upload forms that require smaller files.

Converting PNG to JPG can reduce file size, especially when the image is photographic rather than a flat graphic or screenshot.

Watch out for transparency

JPG does not support transparency. If your PNG has a transparent background, converting to JPG will flatten the transparent area onto a solid background.

For logos, stickers, icons, and design assets that need transparency, PNG or WebP may be a better target format.

Compression still matters

A JPG export has a quality setting. Higher quality keeps more detail but creates a larger file. Lower quality reduces size but can create visible artifacts.

If your goal is upload size, convert and compress in a controlled way instead of repeatedly re-saving the same file.
